Triple Probe Construction in the LAPD Laboratory

A new file has been added to the downloads section that details the construction of a triple probe for use in plasma physics experiments.

Triple probes, a specific type of Langmuir probe, are used to simultaneously measure the electron density and temperature in plasmas. Probes are limited to use in plasmas for which the temperature (energy density) is not high enough to destroy the probe. In the LArge Plasma Device (LAPD) laboratory these temperatures are on the order of 0.5 - 8 eV (~ 92,000 K or 165,000 degrees F). Sample data from the probe described is shown below.
